About PeerAbroad and these terms
PeerAbroad is operated by James Cheng in the United Kingdom. By using the website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or submit content. These terms do not remove any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
Who may use the site
PeerAbroad is intended for people researching or sharing information about study abroad. You must use it lawfully. If you are not legally able to agree to these terms yourself, use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
City and cost information
PeerAbroad costs are researched estimates designed to help compare destinations. Actual costs vary by lifestyle, provider, neighbourhood and date. Currency conversions use PeerAbroad's latest accepted exchange-rate snapshot. Information may become outdated and may not apply to every student.
PeerAbroad does not guarantee that every figure is complete, current or suitable for your circumstances. Independently verify important prices before making financial decisions, and independently check visa requirements, accommodation, insurance, travel arrangements and other safety decisions before relying on them. The Methodology explains how the comparison categories are constructed.
Student reviews and other submissions
A review or suggestion must reflect your genuine experience, honest opinion or a correction you reasonably believe to be accurate. Reviews are user-submitted opinions and do not necessarily represent PeerAbroad's views. Manual moderation is not a guarantee that every statement is accurate.
You must not submit content that:
- is knowingly false, misleading, spam, advertising or submitted on behalf of an agency without disclosure;
- is unlawful, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, sexually explicit or intended to harass another person;
- includes unnecessary personal, confidential or sensitive information about another person;
- infringes copyright, privacy, image, trade mark or other rights; or
- contains malware, automated submissions or material intended to disrupt the service.
Permission to use submitted content
You keep ownership of content you submit. By submitting a review, tip or photo, you give James Cheng, as operator of PeerAbroad, a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, crop, translate and display that content for operating, improving and promoting PeerAbroad. This licence lasts while the content is used for those purposes and for a reasonable period in backups, subject to applicable law.
You confirm that you created the content or otherwise have the rights and permissions needed to submit it and grant this licence. If a photo includes another identifiable person, you must have their permission to submit it for public display.
Moderation, removal and corrections
PeerAbroad may approve, reject, edit for formatting, translate, unpublish or remove submitted content where reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect people, address a complaint, improve clarity or keep the service useful. PeerAbroad is not required to publish every submission or to keep published content online indefinitely.
To request a correction or removal, email hello@peerabroad.co.uk. Privacy-related requests should be sent to privacy@peerabroad.co.uk.
PeerAbroad content and intellectual property
The PeerAbroad name, site design, original writing, methodology presentation, software and compiled datasets are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights. You may use the site for personal research and share ordinary links to its pages. You may not copy substantial parts, republish datasets, scrape at a disruptive scale, or present PeerAbroad content as your own without permission.
External links
PeerAbroad may link to external websites for sources or useful context. PeerAbroad does not control those websites and is not responsible for their availability, content, security or privacy practices. A link does not necessarily mean endorsement.
Availability and changes
PeerAbroad may update, suspend or withdraw features, data or pages as the project develops. Reasonable care is taken, but uninterrupted or error-free availability is not promised. These terms may also be updated; material changes will be reflected by the date above.
Responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that cannot legally be excluded, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your mandatory consumer rights. Subject to that, PeerAbroad is provided for general information and comparison. James Cheng is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for decisions made without independently checking important information.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except that if you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or have mandatory rights in another country, you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts available to you under those rules.
